Out of your comfort zone that is… stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new things are the best ways to grow as a person.
It can be a challenge, especially if you’re one of those people who always state you’re “stuck in your ways” or “don’t like to try new things”. But try not to put those thoughts aside.
I think every person should try something that is out of the ordinary for them because it is a growth experience, EVEN if you make a mistake or don’t get it necessarily right the first time. You may see failure but I see the first attempt at learning.
It enlightens you on experiences you’ve never done before, like a bucket list for your mind (lol). I know what you’re thinking…it’s easier said than done. Nope, it’s only that way if you allow it. Not too long ago I stepped COMPLETELY out of my comfort zone and it felt like I getting over a fear. Afterward, I said to myself “why don’t I always do this?”.
I’m the type of person who loves being around people (depending on my mood lol) but hates standing in front talking to them. However, with the help of my dear friend Reginald, I got over that fear when my organization hosted an open mic night at our student center. He was supposed to be the host of the event (and JUST him) but somehow I ended being his co-host. I interacted with the crowd, talked without my palms getting sweating and I even sang a little Whitney Houston. It was fun! Afterward, I thanked him for giving me that opportunity because it was totally something I would’ve never done. I stepped out.
Every time you try something new, you’re allowing yourself to be open to whatever experience arises, you are learning, and expanding your repertoire of life skills and self-knowledge
Which is essential to your personal growth because if you never challenge yourself, you never know what you’re made of. And I look at stepping out of comfort zone as also challenging yourself. Who wouldn’t want to challenge themselves???
And you never know, you may end up picking up a new hobby.
I challenge all of my readers to make a list of things that make you uncomfortable and try to get comfortable with them! Scratch them off the list one by one as you achieve them! You may find it more comfortable than you think!!
